Alexander I c.1077-1124
King of Scotland
He was the fourth son of Malcolm III Canmore and Queen Margaret. In 1107 he succeeded his brother, Edgar, but only to the area north of the Forth (see David I). He married Sibylla, a natural daughter of Henry I of England. He initiated a shift towards a more diocesan-based episcopacy.
