Apollinaris, called the Younger c.310-c.390AD
Syrian prelate

Bishop of Laodicea from AD360, he was one of the sternest opponents of Arianism. He supported a doctrine (Apollinarianism) condemned by the Council of Constantinople (381) as denying the true human nature of Jesus Christ. He should not be confused with Claudius Apollinaris, known as 'the Apologist', Bishop of Hierapolis in Phrygia in the 2nd century, who wrote an Apology for the Christian faith, and several other works, all lost.
