Beauharnais, Alexandre Beauharnais, Vicomte de 1760-94
French soldier
He served in Louis XVI's army in the American Revolution (1775-83) under the Comte de Rochambeau, but in 1789 embraced the French Revolution. He was made Secretary of the National Assembly, but was guillotined for his failure to relieve Metz. In 1779 he had married Joséphine de Beauharnais, later wife of Napoleon I, and in 1802 his daughter Hortense married Napoleon's brother Louis. Beauharnais was thus the grandfather of Napoleon III.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
