Berg, Alban 1885-1935
Austrian composer

Born in Vienna, he studied under Arnold Schoenberg, and allied the twelve-note technique to a traditional style. He is best known for his opera Wozzeck (first performed 1925), his Violin Concerto (1935), and the Lyric Suite for string quartet (1926). His unfinished opera Lulu was posthumously produced from 1978 to 1979.
