Bradley, Francis Herbert 1846-1924
Welsh philosopher

Born in Glasbury, Brecknockshire (Powys), he became a Fellow of Merton College, Oxford in 1870 but lived as a semi-invalid most of his life. He was probably the most important figure in the British idealist movement of this period and was much influenced by Immanuel Kant and Hegel. His most important works are Ethical Studies (1876), Principles of Logic (1883), and the highly original and influential Appearance and Reality (1893). He was the brother of Andrew Cecil Bradley.
