German prelate

Born in Cologne, he was Imperial Chancellor in 940. In 953 he crushed a rebellion against his brother, Otto I, the Great, became Archbishop of Cologne the same year, and Duke of Lorraine in 954. He was distinguished both for piety and learning. He was the son of Henry the Fowler. His feast day is 11 October.
