Italian prelate and theologian

Born in Gaeta, he studied at Bologna and Padua, being made Professor of Metaphysics at Padua University in 1494. In 1508 he became General of the Dominicans, in 1517 a cardinal, in 1519 Bishop of Gaeta, and in 1523 a legate to Hungary. In 1518 he tried to force Martin Luther to recant at Augsburg.
