Cambyses II, Persian Kambujiya d.522BC
Second King of the Medes and Persians

He succeeded his father, Cyrus the Great, in 529BC. He put his brother Smerdis to death and invaded and conquered Egypt (525BC), so establishing Persian rule there for two centuries. Further attempts at expansion failed, however. When news came in 522BC, that Gaumáta the Magian had usurped the Persian throne, Cambyses marched against him from Egypt, but died in Syria, either by accident or suicide.
