Carrŕ, Carlo 1881-1966
Italian painter

Born in Quargnento, Alexandria, he studied at the Brera Academy, Milan, aligning himself first (1909-14) with the Futurists, with paintings like Funeral of the Anarchist Galli (1911). He was one of the signatories of the Futurist Manifesto at the Exhibition in Paris in 1911. In 1915 he met Giorgio de Chirico and was influenced by his metaphysical painting movement. Carrŕ's aim thereafter was to synthesize past and present, seeking a bridge between Giotto and Cézanne.
