Carver, Robert c.1484-c.1568
Scottish composer

He was canon of Scone, and attached to the Chapel Royal of Scotland. Five of his masses have survived, each showing an elaborate style with free use of counterpoint, and one of which is the only early 16th-century British example based on the cantus firmus 'L'Homme armé'. Of two surviving motets, O bone Jesu has 19 voice parts.
