Conrad II c.990-1039
King of Germany and Holy Roman Emperor
The son of the Duke of Franconia and founder of the Salian dynasty (crowned king in Mainz, 1024), in 1026 he crossed the Alps, crushed a rebellion in Italy, was crowned in Milan and was anointed Holy Roman Emperor by the pope (1027). He was soon recalled to Germany to put down four revolts, which he achieved by 1033, when he was also crowned King of Burgundy. A fresh rebellion recalled him to Italy (1036); but this time he was forced to grant various privileges to his Italian subjects. Shortly after his return he died at Utrecht. He was succeeded by his son Henry III.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
