Faisal I 1885-1933
King of the Hejaz

Born in Ta'if, he was the son of Hussein ibn Ali. He played a prominent role in the Arab revolt against Turkey (1916-18) and became King of Iraq (1921). He negotiated with Great Britain a treaty (1930) that gave Iraq independence and League of Nations membership (1932).
