King of Denmark

Born in Copenhagen, he was the son and successor (1906) of Kristian IX, and brother of Queen Alexandra of Great Britain. In 1907 he made a state visit to Iceland to celebrate the granting of home rule there (1904). He married Princess Louise of Sweden, and was well-liked for his simple lifestyle. His second son, Prince Carl, became King Haakon VII of Norway. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Kristian X.
