Genevičve, St c.422-512AD
French patron saint of Paris

Born at Nanterre, near Paris, she took the veil from St Germanus. She acquired a reputation for sanctity, increased by her assurance that Attila and his Huns would not touch Paris in AD451, and by her expedition for the relief of the starving city during Childeric's Frankish invasion. In 460 she built a church over the tomb of St Denis, where she herself was buried. Her feast day is 3 January.
