Mary of Guise, also called Mary of Lorraine 1515-60
French noblewoman and Scottish queen
The daughter of Claude of Lorraine, 1st Duke of Guise, she married Louis d'Orléans, Duke of Longueville (1534), and James V of Scotland (1538), at whose death (1542) she was left with one child, Mary, Queen of Scots. During the troubled years that followed, she acted with wisdom and moderation, but after she was made Regent of Scotland (1554) she campaigned against Protestantism and allowed the Guises so much influence that the Protestant nobles raised a rebellion (1559), which continued until her death at Edinburgh Castle.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
