Guy of Lusignan d.1194
French crusader

He became King of Jerusalem in 1186 as consort of Sibylla, daughter of Amalric I, but was defeated and captured at Hattin (1187) by Saladin, who overran most of the kingdom. On the death of his wife in 1190 the throne passed to Conrad of Montferrat (d.1192), but Guy received Cyprus as compensation, where his family ruled until 1474.
