Guérin, Pierre Narcisse, Baron 1774-1833
French historical painter
Born in Paris, a skilful painter of classical subjects but inclined to melodrama, he was appointed Professor at the École des Beaux-Arts (1814), where he counted among his pupils Theodore Géricault and Eugène Delacroix. From 1822 to 1829 he was director of the French Academy of Painting in Rome.
