Haakon or Hakon IV Haakonsson, the Old 1204-63
King of Norway
He was the illegitimate grandson of the usurper Sverrir Sigurdsson. His uncle, Duke Skúli, put him on the throne at 13 and acted as regent, but was defeated by his nephew and killed (1240). Haakon strengthened relationships with the Church, and was ceremoniously crowned (1247). He annexed Iceland and Greenland to the Norwegian Crown (1262), but on an expedition to the Western Isles of Scotland to reassert Norwegian power there (1263), he suffered a setback at the Battle of Largs against Alexander III of Scotland and died at Kirkwall in Orkney on his way back to Norway.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
