Harvey, Gabriel c.1550-1630
English poet

Born in Saffron Walden, and educated at Christ Church, Cambridge, he became a Fellow of Pembroke Hall. He was a friend of Edmund Spenser, and published some satirical verses in 1579, attacking both Robert Greene and Thomas Nashe. He claimed to be 'the father of the English hexameter'.
