Governor of Galilee, he took part in the Jewish revolt against the Romans (AD66) and, under the patronage of Vespasian and then Titus, he went to Rome after the fall of Jerusalem. His works (in Greek) include History of the Jewish War, Antiquities of the Jews, a history of the Jews to AD66, and Against Apion.
