Karl VIII, also known as Karl Knutsson 1408-70
King of Sweden and of Norway
A powerful Swedish magnate, he was appointed Guardian of the realm (1438-40). During the reign of Kristofer of Bavaria (Christopher III of Denmark) he was given large fiefs in Finland, but was brought back and elected King as Karl VIII on Christopher's death (1448), and was also elected King of Norway (1448). He lost the Norwegian throne (1450) to Kristian I of Denmark, and in 1457 was driven out of Sweden by an insurrection in favour of Kristian, but was twice recalled to the throne (1464-65, 1467-70) by factions opposed to the Kalmar Union.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
