Lee, Sir Sidney 1859-1926
English scholar and critic

Born in London, he was educated at the City of London School and Balliol College, Oxford. He became assistant editor of the Dictionary of National Biography in 1883, editor in 1891, and Professor of English at East London College in 1913. He wrote a standard Life of Shakespeare (1898) and other works on Shakespeare. He also wrote Lives of Queen Victoria (1902) and Edward VII (1925-27).
