Louis XII, known as the Father of the People 1462-1515
King of France
Born in Blois, the son of Charles, Duc d'Orléans, he succeeded his cousin Charles VIII (the Affable) in 1498, and married his widow Anne of Brittany (he had previously been married to a daughter of Louis XI). His military ambitions failed when his forces were driven from Italy (1512) and he was also defeated at the Battle of the Spurs by Henry VIII (1513). To guarantee peace, Louis married Mary Tudor, sister of Henry VIII, in 1514. Popular at home, he was responsible for continuing the trend towards centralized absolution and was concerned with providing justice and avoiding oppressive taxation.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
