Margaret of Anjou 1430-82
Queen of England
The daughter of René of Anjou, she was married to Henry VI of England in 1445, but because of his madness she became involved in government, acting as virtual sovereign, and she was held responsible for the war of 1449, in which Normandy was lost. During the Wars of the Roses, Margaret was a leading Lancastrian, and after a brave struggle of nearly 20 years, was finally defeated at Tewkesbury (1471). She was imprisoned in the Tower of London for four years, until she was ransomed by Louis XI. She then retired to France.

The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
