Bohemian pianist and composer

Born in Prague of Jewish parents, he was by 1808 the favourite musician and music-master of Vienna. From 1825 he taught in London, and from 1844 in Leipzig. He edited, in English, Anton Felix Schindler's Life of Beethoven (1841).
