Catherine or Katherine Parr 1512-48
English queen

The daughter of Sir Thomas Parr of Kendal, she married first Edward Borough, and next Lord Latimer, before becoming Queen of England by marrying Henry VIII as his sixth wife (1543). A learned, spirited and tactful woman, she managed Henry better than his other wives, persuaded him to restore the succession to his daughters Mary (Mary I) and Elizabeth (Elizabeth I) and showed them much kindness. Shortly after Henry's death (1547) she married a former suitor, Thomas Seymour of Sudeley, and died in childbirth the following year.
