Perseus c.213-c.165BC
Last King of Macedonia in the Antigonid dynasty

He succeeded his father Philip V (179BC), and pursued Philip's policy of consolidating his kingdom after the defeat by Rome, but his success provoked Roman and Greek jealousy. This brought about the Third Macedonian War (171-168), in which Perseus was defeated at Pydna (168) and taken to Italy, where he died in captivity. The monarchy of Macedonia was then abolished.
