Ribbentrop, Joachim von 1893-1946
German Nazi politician

Born in Wesel, he became a wine merchant. He joined the National Socialist Party in 1932, and as Hitler's adviser in foreign affairs he was responsible in 1935 for the Anglo-German naval pact. The following year he was appointed ambassador to Great Britain, and then Foreign Minister (1938-45). He was captured by the British in 1945, condemned to death at Nuremberg and executed.
