English nobleman
He held high posts under Charles II, William III and Queen Anne, including Master of the Horse (1702). In 1682 he married Elizabeth, daughter of the last Earl of Northumberland and the heiress of the Percies, which brought him extensive estates, including Alnwick Castle, Petworth and Syon House.

Search Tip
