Jane Seymour c.1509-1537
English queen

The daughter of Sir John Seymour, and sister of Edward Seymour, Protector Somerset, she was lady-in-waiting to both of Henry VIII's former wives, Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn. She became his third wife 11 days after Anne Boleyn's execution (1536), and gave birth to a son, Edward (the future Edward VI), but died 12 days later. She was the best loved of Henry's wives, and her portrait was painted by Hans Holbein, the Younger.
