Svein I Haraldsson, 'Fork-Beard' d.1014
King of Denmark and of England

He was the son of Harald Gormsson (Blue-Tooth), but rebelled against his father and deposed him (c.986). He made several campaigns against England (from 994), each bribed away by King Ethelred, the Unready. In 1013 with his son Knut Sveinsson (Canute), he forced King Ethelred to flee to Normandy. Svein took up the Crown, but died five weeks later (February 1014).
