Svein II Ulfsson, sometimes known as Estridsson d.1074
King of Denmark
The son of a regent of Denmark, Earl Ulf, and nephew of Knut Sveinsson (Canute), he was appointed regent of Denmark (1045) by King Magnus I Olafsson of Norway (and Denmark), and acclaimed king himself when Magnus died (1047). Harald III Sigurdsson (Hardraade), King of Norway, claimed Denmark, starting a war of attrition against Svein. Peace was made (1064) and Harald accepted Svein's right to the throne of Denmark. In 1069, after the conquest of England by William the Conqueror, Svein's army captured York, but he made peace with William (1070) and withdrew. Svein was a major informant for the historian Adam of Bremen.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
