Berenice IV d.55BC
Egyptian princess

She was the daughter of Ptolemy XII, Auletes and the elder sister of Cleopatra. While her father was forced by impending insurrection away from Egypt (58-55BC), his wife died and Berenice was proclaimed queen. Towards the end of her reign, Alexandria was attacked by Aulus Gabinius, the Roman proconsul of Syria. Ptolemy XII was recalled in 55, whereupon he had his daughter murdered.
