Reagan, Nancy Davis, originally Anne Francis Robbins 1923-
First Lady of the USA
Born in New York City and educated at Smith College, Massachusetts, she was an MGM contract player (1949-56), during which time she married Ronald Reagan in 1952. Her husband was US President from 1981 to 1989, and as First Lady she campaigned against substance abuse, winning numerous honours and awards. She was honorary chair of the 'Just Say No' Foundation and the National Federation of Parents for Drug Free Youth. She was thought to have a considerable influence on her husband. Her book of memoirs, My Turn, was published in 1989.
