Asquith, Margot (Emma Alice Margaret), née Tennant 1864-1945
Scottish society figure
She was born in Peebleshire, the daughter of Sir Charles Tennant, and received little formal education but possessed unusual literary, artistic and musical talents. Clever and sharp-tongued, she became a brilliantly witty hostess who led a group of young intellectuals and aesthetes called the 'Souls' who advocated greater freedom for women. In 1894 she married H H Asquith who became Prime Minister in 1908. Extremely influential in society, she continued her extravagant lifestyle unabashed during World War I. When Asquith was forced to resign in 1916, she wrote two famously indiscreet autobiographies.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
