Romulus Augustulus, properly Flavius Momyllus Romulus Augustus 5th century
Last Roman emperor of the West

His father Orestes, a Pannonian, established Augustus (the diminutive 'Augustulus' was a nickname) as puppet emperor in AD475-76, retaining all substantial power in his own hands. Orestes failed to conciliate the troops, who had helped him against the previous emperor, Julius Nepos, and was killed. Augustulus surrendered immediately to Odoacer, and was dismissed to a villa near Naples with an annual pension of 6,000 pieces of gold.
