Daumier, Honoré 1808-78
French caricaturist and painter
Born in Marseilles, he was taken to Paris as a child, and entered a lithographer's studio. He made his name as a satirical caricaturist, working for La Caricature, Charivari and other periodicals, and was imprisoned for six months for a caricature of Louis Philippe in 1832. He made more than 4,000 lithographs and 4,000 caricatures. Later he worked as a serious painter of realistic subject pictures, such as Don Quixote and The Third Class Carriage, and also as a sculptor. In his old age he became blind and was befriended by Camille Corot.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
