Decius, Caius Messius Quintus Trajanus c.200-251AD
Roman emperor

He was born in Lower Pannonia, and was sent (AD249) by the Emperor Philip I, the Arab, to reduce the rebellious army of Moesia. An able general and administrator, he was proclaimed emperor by the soldiers against his will, and he defeated and killed Philip near Verona. His brief reign was one of warring with the Goths and persecuting the Christians. He was killed near Abricium.
