The illegitimate son of Louis, Duc d'Orléans, he was a general in the Hundred Years War. He defeated the English at Montargis (1427), defended Orleans with a small force until its relief by Joan of Arc (1429), then inflicted further defeats on the English, forcing the Duke of Bedford from Lagny and chasing them out of Paris. A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
