Farel, Guillaume 1489-1565
French reformer
Born in Gap in Dauphiné, he became a convert to Protestantism in 1521. He fled to Basle, and in 1524 supported 39 Protestant theses. He moved to Geneva in 1532 and, after being twice compelled to leave, settled there in 1534. In 1535 the town council proclaimed the Reformation, but people reacted against the sudden severity of the ecclesiastical discipline imposed by John Calvin, and in 1538 the two reformers were expelled from the city. He became a pastor in Neuchâtel in 1538, and worked there for the rest of his life.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
