Fokine, Michel, originally Mikhail Mikhailovich Fokine 1880-1942
US dancer and choreographer
Born in St Petersburg, he trained at the Imperial Ballet there. After teaching at his old school, he joined Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes in 1909 as a choreographer. On leaving the company he worked in Europe, teaching and choreographing for both theatre and ballet. He is credited with the creation of a more expressive approach to the ballet than the artificial, stylized mode prevalent at the turn of the century. He settled in New York City from 1923.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
