Heydrich, Reinhard, nicknamed the Hangman 1904-42
German Nazi politician
Born in Halle, as a youth he joined the violent anti-Weimar Freikorps (Volunteer Corps) (1918). He served in the navy (1922-31) but quit to join the Nazi Party, and entered the SS (Schutstaffel, protective force) rising to be second-in-command of the Gestapo. He was charged with subduing Hitler's occupied countries, during which he ordered numerous mass executions. In 1941 he was made Deputy-Protector of Bohemia and Moravia, but the following year was killed by Czech assassins parachuted in from Great Britain. In the murderous reprisals, Lidice village was razed and every man put to death.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
