French composer

Born in Paris, he was a student, disciple and biographer of César Franck, and founded the Schola Cantorum in Paris in 1894. He published Treatise of Composition (1900) and composed operas, chamber music and, notably, the Symphonie cévenole (1886, 'Symphony on a French Mountain Song') in the spirit of French Romanticism.
