Leigh, Vivien, originally Vivian Mary Hartley 1913-67
British actress

She was born in Darjeeling, India, and after training at RADA, her first contract was with Alexander Korda, playing in Fire Over England (1936) with Laurence Olivier, whom she later married (1940-60). In Hollywood she played her best-known part, Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind (1939), which won her an Academy Award. Other major film roles were in Anna Karenina (1948) and A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), which gained her another Academy Award.
