Piozzi, Hester Lynch, previous married name Thrale, née Salusbury 1741-1821
Welsh writer
She was born in Bodvel, Caernarvonshire, and in 1763 married Henry Thrale, a prosperous Southwark brewer. Two years later Dr Samuel Johnson conceived an extraordinary affection for her. He lived in her house at Streatham Place for over 16 years, and her husband made him one of his four executors. Henry Thrale died in April 1781, leaving 12 children, and in 1784 she married the Italian musician Gabriel Piozzi. After extensive travels in Europe, the couple returned to England in 1787, to Streatham in 1790. She wrote poems and on hearing of Johnson's death whilst in Italy, published Anecdotes of the late Dr Johnson (1786) and Letters to and from the late Dr Johnson (1788).

The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
