Ptolemy IV, Philopator d.205BC
King of Egypt

The son and successor (222BC) of Ptolemy III, Eurgetes, he began his reign by murdering his mother, Berenice. Hostile classical writers portray him as debauched, indolent, and ruled by favourites, and ascribe to him the decline of Ptolemaic power at home and abroad.
