Reinhardt, Max, originally Max Goldmann 1873-1943
Austrian theatre manager

He was born in Baden, Germany. An innovator in theatre art and technique, his work often involved large-scale productions (for example, The Miracle, London 1911, which used over 2,000 actors). He co-founded the Salzburg Festival (1920), where he produced Everyman and Faust for the festivals of 1920 and subsequent years. He left Germany for the USA in 1933, and opened a theatre workshop in Hollywood.
