Samson
Old Testament ruler

He was the last of the 12 judges in the Book of Judges. The biblical account represents him not as a leader but as an individual whose deeds on behalf of Israel made him a popular hero. After a number of encounters with the Philistines he was lured into a trap by Delilah, who cut off his hair to reduce the strength that God had given him. Blinded by the Philistines, he took his revenge once his hair had grown again by bringing down the temple at Gaza.
