Sitwell, Sir Sacheverell 1897-1988
English writer and art critic
Born in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, the younger brother of Edith and Osbert Sitwell, he was educated at Eton, before becoming an officer in a Guards regiment, enjoying extensive travel abroad. After World War I the brothers toured Spain and Italy. Italy became their second country, resulting in Sacheverell's Southern Baroque Art (1924), followed by The Gothic North (1929). His German Baroque Art (1927) completed his study of European art. A prolific writer, he published poetry, and is best remembered for his mannered but lively travel books and eccentric cultural commentaries, such as Monks, Nuns and Monasteries (1965). His reminiscences also attracted some attention.

A wildcard is a special character you can use to replace one or more characters in a word. There are two types of wildcard. The first is a question mark ?, which matches a single character. The second is an asterisk *, which matches zero or more characters. The two kinds of wildcard can be mixed in a single search.
