A supporter of Sulla and Dolabella, he was the notoriously corrupt Governor of Sicily (73-70BC). Cicero successfully prosecuted him before the Senate, but he escaped to Massilia (Marseilles), where his wealth attracted his proscription and death under Mark Anthony.
